how to install ios 8
Before you can install IOS 8 you need to make sure you device is compatible for the update. This update is the biggest update yet in apples history. You need 5GB of space on your device to be able to update your device. I recommend that people who have less that 5GB free space to go for the 2nd option. this is definitely recommended to people with iPhones and iPods that are 8Gb or 16GB.
All new apple devices now come with IOS 8 pre installed on them.
If you device is not mentioned above then please don't try and install IOS 8.
There are two ways of updating you compatible device.

There are two ways of updating you compatible device.
- Going to Settings - General - Software update
- Plug device into pc
2. Plug your iPhone or iPad into your PC or Mac and open up iTunes. Once opened up, back-up you device and sync it. Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes (11.4) before you carry on. Press check for Updates. It should pop up saying that IOS 8 is available for this device, do you want to update? click download. Instead of it downloading onto your phone it downloads onto you PC or Mac and installs straight from the computer. Doing updates this way means that you don't have to delete a single app, photo, music etc. to get access to the latest operating system. When you have updated, some apps may be incompatible with the new operating system. A update will become available for every app that you have that makes it IOS 8 friendly!
Once you have downloaded it:
1. If you have downloaded the update on your device then it will ask you that its ready to install the update. You press download.
2. If you downloaded the update on you PC or Mac in iTunes (11.4) then it will do the entire process all in one go. You must keep the device plugged into the PC or Mac until it does not require the lead.

1. & 2. Once you have downloaded and installed the update, it will then take you through similar welcome screen when you start you iPhone or iPad for the first time. It will tell you that the update has completed. It will then ask you to choose your network. It should automatically join to the internet you selected before you updated. then once it has a tick next to your wifi press next. It will then ask for you Apple ID password. Complete the rest of the steps and it will finally land on the screen "Get Started". when you press get started it will take you to you devices home screen. Your layout might of changed as there are a few more apps that apple have added complementary with the update. This will fill the first screen, and a bit of your second screen.
Now you have finished the update. You may have to enter you apple id password in messages as that happened to me. If it says iMessage activation "please check your wireless connection and try again" then restart your device and open up iMessages again and repeat process and it should work first time!
I hope this step by step installation guide helped!
