This will make it possible for Android and iOS users to communicate securely as iMessage features end-to-end encryption – even Apple cannot access users’ messages. It also follows the firm's high profile row with the US government over its encryption. Currently, iMessage is accessible through the Messages app on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 5 or later or on a Mac running OS X Mountain Lion or later. In February, Eddie Cue announced that the number of iMessages sent surpassed 200,000 per second. The company released Apple Music for Android last November, its first Android app.The Cupertino firm is set to make the announcement at its Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco next week, where the new versions of iOS, OS X, watchOS and tvOS will also be debuted.
It is believed the firm will also show off new Macbooks with an OLED screen just above the keyboard.
The OLED screen would allow users to create their own custom keys for each app. According to 9to5Mac, which says its sources have confirmed the changes, the OLED display touch bar will replace the physical function keys along the top of the keyboard.
