If the iPad Pro’s release date is Nov. 6, expect confirmation sometime this week. The Apple TV 4’s release date was announced last week at the Wall Street Journal Digital Live conference when Apple CEO Tim Cook took the stage, for example. iPad Pro pre-orders should follow the same strategy as the Apple TV 4, which will available for purchase this Friday, and had pre-orders go active this Monday morning.
The iPad Pro will start at $799 for the 32GB WI-FI only model, $949 for the 128GB WI-FI only model and $1,079 for the 128GB WI-FI+LTE model. There is no 32GB model with a cellular connection available. The accessories for the iPad Pro will be sold separately and will be priced at $99 for the Apple Pencil and $169 for the detachable Smart Keyboard.
To pre-order the iPad Pro, you will want to keep an eye on this page. You will notice that the page doesn’t go anywhere yet, but Apple’s URL naming scheme is self-explanatory and they have a history of keeping to their past practices.
You may get an edge on the competition by checking the Apple Store app on your iOS 09 device on the pre-order release date, when pre-orders officially become available: This morning, the Apple TV 4 was available to be pre-ordered via the Apple Store app much sooner than it was available to be pre-ordered via a web browser on the Apple website. So far the design teams at Pixar and Disney have been allowed to play with the iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil hands-on, and both teams of graphic designers really enjoyed it. They were especially impressed by the ability of the iPad Pro’s palm rejection feature, which was able to tell when an Apple Pencil was being used and rejected input coming from the rest of the hand on the touch screen display. Keep in mind Apple has a close relationship with both Disney and Pixar, so take the endorsements with a grain of salt.
The iPad Pro itself will weigh only 1.57-pounds despite being the biggest iPad yet, and will feature a new speaker system that will compensate for the way it is being held to ensure that that audio quality stays high. Its 12.9-inch retina display is capable of a resolution of a 2732 ‑ by ‑ 2048-pixels with a pixel density of 264-ppi. It’s not as high as the iPad Mini 4 for example, but it’s nothing to scoff at. The iPad Pro will also have the A9X processor, which is even speedier than the one in the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and will have a whopping 4GBs of RAM installed on board (We can’t stop here, this is tablet country!) according to a leak by Adobe.
The iPad Pro will available in three colors: Silver, Gold and Space Grey.
